3-Score Reviews: Captain America- The First Avenger

The Wartime setting offers stark contrast to the comic book feel. The film feels overly anachronistic which suspends Captain America in a state of limbo between realism and fantasy for most of the 2 hours, which is detrimental to the idea of Capt. A being a relatable figure. However his portrayal as a man who is given powers is endearing.

3-Score Reviews: True Grit

A delicate treatment of the old west that captures the sleepiness, rife banditry and justice for hire nature of the great frontier perfectly! Incredible acting takes the edge of the slower pacing of the film. True Grit is predominantly driven by narrative and manages to avoid the common clich├ęs yet still succeeding in clearly distinguishing itself as a gritty western.
